Being a slightly deeper reef, we sometimes even see larger species such as the beautiful spotted eagle ray and sting ray, when they come in to feed.
We nearly always see large lobsters as we drift lazily along the ocean surface, and sometimes the occasional turtle cleaning its shell on the hard corals.
A tour-stop favourite, the turtle sanctuary is a little-known area of reef in Cozumel where we regularly encounter sea turtles feeding on the lush ocean grasses. It’s not uncommon to see groups of 3 or 4 turtles together, totally at peace in their natural habitat as we swim close by in shallow waters.
It’s perfect for those with an underwater camera, or simply take away beautiful memories that will last you a lifetime.
