The Gentle Giants: Nurse Sharks
The most common shark we spot on our tours is the Nurse Shark. These are docile, slow-moving bottom feeders that are generally harmless to humans. They spend the vast majority of their days sleeping quietly under coral ledges or resting on the sandy ocean floor. They have no interest in snorkellers, and our guides and guests actually consider it a massive stroke of luck to spot one!
Other Marine Life
While other species (like the Caribbean Reef Shark) do exist in deeper waters, they are naturally shy and tend to actively avoid the splashing and noise of snorkelling groups. They prefer depths far below where our standard tours operate.
