The majority of visitors each year arrive by cruise ship at one of the two main cruise ship terminal areas, Punta Langosta (a short walk from the downtown area), or either Puerta Maya or the International Cruise Ship Terminal (further down the coast, approximately 10-15 minutes by taxi from the downtown area).
Although we’re an island, we’re also still quite accessible from the mainland – and from the main international airports.
From Cancun or Cancun International Airport
Take a taxi or private transfer to Playa del Carmen ferry terminal. Most taxis will drop you outside the Paseo del Carmen Shopping Mall) – from here it’s a short 5 minute walk through the mall down to the waterfront where the ferries depart.
You can also take a coach to Playa del Carmen using ADO. They are nearly as quick as a taxi, still comfortable, and also highly affordable. Simply get a ticket from the ADO desk in the airport, and take your luggage to the designated coach meeting point outside the airport. The bus station in Playa del Carmen is a short 5 minute walk through a pedestrian area to the ferry terminal.
From here it’s about a 35-40 minute fast ferry over to the island, using either Ultramar, Winjet, or Xcaret.
Top tip: buy your tickets from the dedicated ferry ticket counter, not street sellers – and only buy the sailing time you need on arrival (since each ferry company sails at alternate time, and are a similar price).

From Cozumel International Airport: it’s a short 5 or 10 minute taxi ride to either our store or main departure point.
